The Proposal

Last year on the anniversary of our proposal I said that someday I would write it down. Well now here it is, two years after that glorious event and I have yet to record it for future generations. Shame on me.
I am horrible at writing stories and I may have to give a few side stories along the way, but here goes.

In fact, let me start with a side story - Jordan and I knew after 3 short but amazing weeks of dating that we were gonna marry each other. We tried to not tell people right away because I had two sisters getting married a month apart from each other and didn't want them to feel that I was trying to "steal their thunder" by announcing my engagement a few months before their big day. Plus it wasn't official yet, after all I didn't have a ring :) We began ring shopping in secret and it was SO fun! I loved that time. After about three weeks of shopping around Jordan decided to have the ring custom made. I couldn't have been more thrilled. The only thing about having it made is that the Jeweler said it could take one to two months to complete. I told Jordan not to tell me when it was finished, that way I would not be expecting the proposal. He did a great job.

OK, now the good stuff. The day of the proposal was September 30th 2009. I thought it was a normal day. That night we were meeting up with friends to play some games in the ASU library. Honestly, that was nothing out of the ordinary because my friends are freakin awesome!! My friend in charge of the supposed game night said that she would be going early to help set up, and that Jordan and I were to meet the gang there. Again, nothing out of the ordinary.

We drove to ASU and had to pass by a place on campus known as The Secret Garden to get to the library. While walking by Jordan started pulling me into the garden. I protested saying that we didn't have time and I did not want to be late for the game. He was persistent and insisted that we indeed had time and it would only take a second. I agreed. To get to the garden there is a bit of an underground walkway, it's very cool! If I had been paying closer attention to my surroundings I would have noticed that the walls of the hallway were covered with Polish posters and Polish tram routes. I didn't notice them until we were almost out of the tunnel, then I looked up and noticed one of my favorite posters on the wall.
I said, "hmm...this is weird that this is here don't you think Jordan?!"
But he refused to stop and kept pulling me out of the tunnel. It was only then that I realized that something was about to go down, and it wasn't a game night with friends.

We emerged out of the tunnel into the beautiful secluded garden and there on the fireplace (yes this garden has an outdoor fireplace) were lights strung up and  more posters covering a wall. As we got closer to the fireplace I was able to see that the posters were all of down town Krakow Poland. The town square, known as the Rynek and it just happens to be my favorite city in the world!

OK, time for another side story - My friend Jennifer and I in our single days would talk about all the cool ways we would like to be proposed to. You know, typical girl talk. Mine was always the same even though I knew it would never happen. I told her how amazing it would be if I was in Krakow with the man of my dreams and there in the romantic nightlife of the Rynek, he would profess his love and propose! Hey, a girl can dream :)
Well Jennifer being the great friend that she is told that little dream of mine to Jordan and together they tried to recreate Krakow at night.
Thus the photos of the Rynek and the lights surrounding the fireplace!

Well he pulled me close, said some really cute mussy lovely dovey stuff, told me that he wished he could have flown me to Krakow, but a recreation of the Rynek would just have to do. Then he got on his knees and asked me to marry him. It was very intimate, romantic, and oh so perfect.
HERE are some photos of the night.

It is beautiful moment that will forever be engraved in my memory.
